Steps for success:
Cosmos have a vase life ranging from 3-5 days. I strive to get you to the 5 day mark. In order to do this I cut cosmos when their buds have just barely cracked open.
As blooms start to fade, snip these off and let the remaining buds shine! Most Cosmo stems have 2-5 buds on them. Many will continue to open in the vase.
Although the life of a Cosmo is short, their whimsical personality make them soooooo worth it! In recent weeks I have been pleasantly surprised to find old arrangements that have cosmos going strong well over a week, but this is an exception to the rule!
Zinnias also have a 3-5 day expected vase life. Zinnias will start to turn brown by day five. Occasionally they will last longer.
When the zinnias start to fade, remove them and continue enjoying the rest of your arrangement.
These pops of color are seasonal flowers that do not transport well. If you see these at your local florist shop, you can bet they were grown locally!
Procut, sunrich, heirloom…. There are hundreds of different sunflowers on the market now. Here at Blooms with Joy, we try to bring you sunflower products that are low to no pollen. By doing so, you will mostly see procut and sunrich varieties.
Sunflowers are dirty flowers. This means their stems leak a sap and it is very important to change their water frequently, if not daily. Especially if they are in a mixed bouquet, that way they don’t make their vase pals unhappy.
You can expect anywhere from 6-10 days of beauty from our sunflowers. You may even be lucky enough for 14 days.
The wonderful world of Calendula!!
Calendula comes in a mix of only the happiest colors: yellows, oranges, and some pinks!
The stems and leaves of calendula are very fragile and break easily. Be gentle while handling these pretty little things.
Calendula will typically last 5-7 in a vase. As with other flowers, changing the vase water frequently will help prolong their life. Also snipping the blooms when they become sad will help.
Did you know that herbs pair well with flowers? They do!
Herbs will last a very long time, more than likely out live the other flowers... as long as you keep that vase water fresh!
Expect, at minimum, 7 days.
